When the developers of a new gold processing plant in Guinea began construction, one of their biggest challenges was securing a piping system that could withstand the region’s harsh operating conditions. Mining environments demand resilience: abrasive slurry, corrosive chemicals and constant water flow leave no room for second-rate materials.
Gradco SA was brought in to bridge this critical gap. With proven experience in supplying HDPE piping solutions across Africa, we were tasked to deliver not just fittings, but peace of mind that the entire system would perform reliably once the plant came online.

Understanding the Client’s Needs
The project required much more than standard off-the-shelf parts. The plant’s design called for precision-
engineered fittings that could handle both everyday operations and site-specific challenges.
The client’s requirements included:
- Plant work fittings for the full processing layout.
- Specially fabricated components such as bends, laterals, and both eccentric and concentric reducers.
- Products capable of performing in aggressive slurry and chemical transport systems.
- Packaging and logistics to ensure safe delivery to a remote mine in Western Africa.
How Gradco SA Delivered
Gradco SA approached the project as a complete partnership rather than a simple supply agreement.
- Engineered Fittings:
Supplied a variety of special bends, laterals, reducers, flanges, and tees designed specifically for the plant’s process flow. Custom fabrication reduced on-site adjustments and ensured compatibility. - Quality & Compliance:
All fittings were manufactured and inspected in line with ISO, ASTM, and DIN standards. Independent third-party checks provided added assurance for the client. - Documentation:
Delivered a full technical dossier including test certificates, compliance reports, and detailed specifications. - Proactive Coordination:
Close communication with manufacturers, freight forwarders, and the site team ensured that every stage of the supply chain was controlled and transparent.

Overcoming the Logistics
Transporting specialised fittings into Guinea posed a significant challenge. Remote location, regional infrastructure and tight construction schedules left no room for delays.
Gradco SA ensured smooth delivery by:
- Containerising large and sensitive fittings, such as T-pieces, to protect them in transit.
- Managing customs clearance and documentation to avoid hold-ups.
- Partnering with trusted local transport companies for final delivery to site.
- Providing regular progress updates to the client, ensuring complete visibility throughout.
Technical Support Beyond Supply
Our involvement extended beyond simply delivering the fittings. Gradco SA provided remote technical assistance during the installation phase. This ensured correct welding, joining, and alignment of the HDPE components – crucial for long-term plant performance.
Results Achieved
The outcome of this project was more than a shipment delivered, it was a contribution to the successful
commissioning of a new gold processing facility in Guinea.
- All fittings, including special bends, laterals, and reducers were delivered securely and on schedule.
- The piping system met international quality standards and passed third-party verification.
- The client commended Gradco SA for quality, responsiveness, and reliability, noting our role in
keeping construction milestones on track.
This project reinforced Gradco SA’s role as a trusted partner for mines and industrial plants across Africa –
offering not just supply, but the technical expertise and logistical capability to deliver under challenging
conditions.
